October 2014 Favorites in Beauty, Fashion, and Other Goodies

Another month has passed and it has truly flown by. I know everyone says that, but I just can’t believe how fast time goes by when you get older. I remember sitting in class in high school willing the clock to move faster, but now its like I blink and another hour has gone by.  Anyway, I really love the month of October and I’m sad to see it go, but it does mean the holiday season moves closer which is always fun!  Tell me your favorites for the month and I hope you have a great November!

Favorites In Beauty

Boots No7 Natural Blush Tint Powder in Soft Damson-Holy crap this blush! Love it. Ok so I’ve only had it for like a week, but this is gorgeous. Remember a few months ago when there was a Revlon blush in my favorites because it was easy and didn’t have to worry about putting too much on? This is almost the same except this one give such a beautiful glow! Don’t be scared I don’t mean glittery. I mean glow, trust me, I HATE glitter everywhere but my eyeshadow and my highlight, but even then I don’t like a ton of glitter it’s just not my thing. Anyway, this blush is great because it’s a blush that’s easy to apply (great for beginners), and it gives you a beautiful glow that makes you look alive! And that is exactly what I need when I’ve been working my butt off with only a little bit of sleep.  I don’t know about the longevity because I haven’t had this blush that long, but since it doesn’t say anything about being long wearing I’m assuming it’s not long wearing. In any case, I don’t care if it’s long wearing because it’s so pretty on my face and definitely my favorite blush. Did I mention it’s super velvety. I love smooth velvety products on my face!

NYX lipstick in Licorice– I can’t stop wearing this lipstick. I mentioned it in my top fall lipsticks here! I always get complements and people asking what I’m wearing! It is such a beautiful and different color I just can’t stand how cute it is! To see a more detailed review and a lip swatch check it out here!

Favorites In Fashion

H&M Short Necklace in Light Pink– I have been wanting a statement necklace for a while. Finally, I went to H&M, and really looked for one. There were big and chunky to light and delicate when it came to the choices and I think this is a great combination of chunky, but also feminine. I also don’t go for pink that often, but for some reason I was drawn to this. It dresses up anything I wear, but my favorite look is a crew neck t-shirt, jeans, a blazer, and the necklace really makes the look special.

Marc Jacobs Watch
Marc Jacobs Watch- I know, I know I put a watch in my last monthly favorites. I just love watches! This one is freaking gorgeous. You might be able to still find this in a Marshall’s near you, they also had a rose gold option with linked band instead of leather. The watch ran me about 65 dollars before taxes, but honestly if I haven’t worn it everyday since I got it I would be surprised. It has a beautiful square face which really got my attention. Now I’m not really into patent leather, but this isn’t too shiny and it just works with this watch. Like I said I am obsessed with this watch and I wear it by itself or layered with a few bracelets.

Kate Spade Bangle

Kate Spade Bangle-I received this as a gift from a friend and actually goes really well with my watch. I love wearing this pair together. It’s just so clean and modern and simple I just can’t get enough I need more Kate Spade in my life!

Infinity Scarf

Two Tone Open Weave Infinity Scarf– I got this scarf at Nordstrom from their brand BP and I have pretty much been wearing it every time its cold. Its handy when I leave for work pretty early in the morning, and come back pretty late at night there’s a more than slight change in temperature. The scarf has helped me cope with colder temps in the early morning and then I can just take it off if it gets warmer. My favorite part about this scarf is the open knit with the fringe. It’s simple without being plain. I also love that it is two toned, granted they are two neutral colors, but I think it adds  dimension to my look when I wear this scarf.

Black Candies Boots

Trinidad Women’s Ankle Boots- These are Candies brand from Kohls and I wear these so often I feel like I’m neglecting my other boots a little bit. They are a Chelsea boot style with no closure, just elastic at the sides and they are ankle height. They are classic and have such a small heel I would consider them flat. The reason, however, that I wear them constantly is that I decided to make them extremely comfortable. When I first bought them I got a half size bigger because they didn’t have my size (don’t judge). Then I had a brilliant idea to put comfort inserts/insoles in them because they generally make my regular size shoe feel tighter. So after a day of breaking the shoes in with the insoles making them comfortable to stand in as well as making them fit like my regular size it was a win/win for me and my feet.

Lauren Conrad Jegging

Lauren Conrad Jeggings– I know, I hate even writing the word jeggings let alone  wearing a pair.  However, these are so amazing that I don’t even care that they are jeggings.  I refer to these fondly as my pajama jeans because I could totally wear them to sleep. Every night. These jeans are stretchy and soft and now I have two pairs an indigo and a dark wash. I would buy ten pairs of these if I could, but I think I’ll just stick to two for now.

Random Favorites

Book: Panic by Lauren Oliver- This book was freaking awesome. I read through it in eight hours (not all at once! Who has that kind of time? I’m jealous if you do).  It takes you through the lives of two teens competing in a number of challenges to win thousands of dollars. It reminded me of the hunger games in the way that it’s kids having to deal with pressure and fear. It is so well written, and flows beautifully. I honestly couldn’t put it down. Go check it out (Also tell me if you want to see what me favorite books are)!

Store: Kohls- I know what you’re all thinking,”what is this girl thinking? Kohls doesn’t make fashionable items”. Usually I would agree, it’s pretty hit or miss at Kohls, but this month I am doing pretty darn well. In fact my Lauren Conrad jeans mentioned above are from Kohls. I guess I should really favoriting the Lauren Conrad collection at Kohls instead of Kohls as a whole. However, I did find one cute pair of earrings from Kohls. Oh! And I got two of my favorite pairs of boots from Kohls and not the Lauren Conrad collection specifically.  Overall, I’ve done pretty well shopping at Kohls and I hope it continues because let’s face it they have great cheapish jewelry that doesn’t turn your skin green and clothes for work that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

    Favorites On The Internet

Blogger: Nouveau Cheap– I absolutely love this blog!  I have been following on Bloglovin’ for a while and her posts are always informative and well written and I always check Nouveau Cheap first when I need any info on drugstore products (or good sales of high end). You guys should all check it out!

Website: I’m moving! To a domain! I’m trying to take my blogging to the next level so I will be moving to a new website with a different name because Runway Everywhere is being held captive by someone trying to sell it for like five grand or something ridiculous. Anyway, that will be up in a few weeks, and I hope you all follow me there! My new blog will be The Face of Style at thefaceofstyle.com and it will be the same format as Runway Everywhere focusing on beauty, fashion, occasionally my life, and I think I will be starting to do a few more things over there as well perhaps a giveaway or two. Anyway I will keep you posted on that and make sure to follow me there because after I make the switch because I will no longer be posting here after that.

How To Look Good When You’re In A Rush

DSCN0913 edited and flattened

Some of you may recall I recently got a full time job so I have to get up early, everyday.  Sometimes this doesn’t go so well.  Instead of giving myself one hour to get ready I have about fifteen minutes.  I know that sounds like a lot, but when you intend on doing your hair, makeup, and change into work appropriate clothes it can be a struggle.  I have recently figured some things out that make even my most hectic mornings the most effective.

Makeup in Under Ten Minutes

When it comes to doing your make up it’s pretty subjective to the individual what the most important step is.  Some people it’s foundation, others it’s brows.  My number one step is lashes.  I don’t care if my skin is acting up or if my brows aren’t filled as long as I have long lashes.  My advice is take your three most important steps and just do those (that doesn’t include lipstick because you can put that on in two seconds at work or on a train).  My other two most important makeup steps after mascara are brows and blush.  Commit to just doing three steps and it should cut your getting ready time in half.

Hair Problems

I personally hate doing my hair.  I want to wake up and have my hair be perfect, but that rarely happens.  In fact I constantly look for products and hairstyles to try that will make my hair as easy to take care of as possible short of buzzing it off.  In any case I do have hair and it sucks at looking nice sometimes.  To add insult to injury my hair is about shoulder length so all those tutorials for bad hair day hairstyles doesn’t always work for me.  My hair can’t sustain some crazy braid, a high bun, or even a high pony without a lot of pins and that stuff takes more time than it’s worth.  My advice for quick and easy hair is to go with the messy hair look.  Try a texturizing spray and hope for the best, I do that most days and it’s been going pretty well most days. The other suggestions I can give are the old reliables, ponytail or half up half down with whatever variation you’re into.  If any of you have quick hairstyle let me know in the comments below because I wasn’t lying when I said I sucked at hair.

Dressing Up Made Easy

Setting your clothes out every night is a blessing when you occasionally run late.  I always look at the weather before I go to bed and then choose and outfit accordingly.  Occasionally I get lazy and choose an outfit that I know I will want to wear.  The number one outfit I wear is jeans, a tee, and a blazer.  This is a no brainer.  It gives me layering if the weather changes/the office changes temperature, it’s comfortable, and I already know it’s appropriate for the office.  At this very moment I am wearing a hunter green and dark blue plaid wool blazer (from goodwill), a gray tee (from Walmart), and black jeans (from Jennyfer).  I paired this outfit with a pair of black ankle boots, but a pair of flats would work too! It’s all about what’s easiest when it comes to getting out on time.

Let me know of any tips you have for getting ready in a rush in the comments below!

Top Lip Colors I’ll Be Wearing For Fall 2014

Let’s face it, we all love lipstick and we all love fall so you knew this was coming!  When it comes to fall bright pinks and purples go to back in your makeup case and deep berry, plum, and red come to the front.  Here are the lip colors I’ll be wearing this fall, and I hope it inspires you to get a little deeper when it comes to your lips.

Pinky/Mauvey Shades

photo 1
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Teak Rose– This color has a slight brown undertone while still being rosey.  It’s perfect if you want a more dramatic eye without doing such a nude lip.
photo 3

Tarte Lipsurgence Natural Matte Lip Stain in Envy– This is a definitely a mauve and you can layer it to get a pretty dark shade. I love the matte finish, but it can be pretty drying so make sure you wear it with a lip balm underneath.
photo 2

Boots No7 Stay Perfect Lip Stain in Posey– This is what I wish my natural lips looked like in fall.  This color is a cool toned pink that I feel like makes my lips look fuller without having to use any lip plumping stuff or anything.  There’s just something about this that I love for fall, but I’m pretty sure I’ll still be wearing this in every other season. Usually lip stains are really drying, but this one doesn’t really bother me that much. If it does get dry on you, there’s a handy dandy lip balm on one side with the stain on the other.

Berry and Plum Shades

photo 2

Bite Beauty Luminous Lip Creme in Zin– This is a lighter berry shade as if you were actually eating a ton of strawberries and it stained your lips. I like this when I don’t want to go all the way to red, but I want something in that family of shades. The formula is oh so creamy, like so creamy and can technically be eaten because they use food grade ingredients.

photo 4
Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Plumrose– This is a classic shade that I feel like I hear everyone talk about.  If you want to try a purple lipstick, but are apprehensive start with this one.  This is a purpley pink, but you can definitely tell there’s purple in there.  These are also incredibly creamy and they smell delicious, but they tend to bleed outside my lips so make sure you use a lip liner.

Deep Vampy Shades

photo 4
NYX Butter Lipstick in Licorice– I love this color! It’s a deep burgundy with a very slight iridescence.  Don’t be scared, it’s so very slight, trust me I hate all glittery lipstick so if it looked like any kind of frosted finish I would hate it. But I swatched it on my hand and I have to say if I had to choose one color to wear all season it would be this one.
photo 3
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Raisin Rage– I know these look similar, but this has more of a reddish brown undertone with no purple.  It very aply named, raisin is exactly the color that comes to mind.  And we all know the Revlon formula is one of the best at the drugstore, but this one may need a bit of reapplication throughout the day.  The color it fades to is pretty beautiful too.

photo 1

Boots No7 Stay Perfect Lip Stain in Ruby– This is one of those deep reds, not what I expected from a stain.  I love the pretty matte finish and the deep sultry color, and of course the staying power.  But again these are drying so make sure to use a lip balm.
photo 5
Boots No7 Stay Perfect Long Wearing Lipstick in Love Red– I know this is bright, but I don’t mind a bright red for fall.  I would wear it with barely any shadow and mascara to really make my lips stand out.  This is freaking gorgeous, I couldn’t figure out the right red for me until I got this.  And. this. Formula.  When Boots No7 says long wearing they mean it. I wear lipstick from 7:00am until 7:30pm and it stays looking beautiful all day.  The only day I have to reapply is after I eat because it might slightly fade. It is a hint drying, but hands down it’s the best long wearing lipstick I have ever used.

Inspired By: A Men’s Watch

As many of you know I have a love for watches (some might call it a problem, but its really not).  So when I found out about Invaluable.com I had to check it out.  Its the world’s largest online auction marketplace where they hold auctions for furniture, art, and jewelry.  I of course checked out the watches for men and women, and a men’s watch in particular really caught my eye.  Check out the one I loved below and the look that it inspired!

The watch I chose was one that I would consider wearing myself because honestly I feel like mens watches are more my style.  I’m not a big fan of jewels on the face of a watch and I don’t ever have to worry about that when looking in the men’s watch section.  I also love wearing my watches a bit loose which is handy with mens watches because they are usually made with the intention of being worn on a bigger wrist than mine.

I chose this watch because it is simple at first glance, but as you move closer there are more and more details like the blue watch hands and the number 13-24 under the roman numerals.  This watch is masculine, but definitely has enough sleek and delicate touches that I wouldn’t mind wearing it as a woman.
The look I chose has the same style as the watch, elegant and classic, but also on trend.  I think the pair would compliment each other well if worn together.  I would wear this look to work or a date, its a very versatile look, but sophisticated at the same time.  I am in love with every piece on its own, but they look even better when put together.  This look is the perfect mix of casual and dressy, masculine and feminine, and classic and trendy.  Just like this gorgeous Cartier watch.Inspired By: A Men's Watch

September Favorites 2014

photo (4)

Beauty and Skincare:

Lorac pro palette- I have been wanting this palette for a while now and I finally broke down and bought this 42 dollar beauty.  The shadows are so buttery, pigmented, and blendable.  It’s the perfect mix of neutral and daring shades.  There see enough colors to get a range of looks and you guys know I love versatility.  A few of my favorites shades are mauve, cream, and garnet.  Yes, some of these shades can be messy because they are so soft, but you just need a lighter hand with these.  I would recommend getting this palette if you are first starting out or an experienced make up artist because it is just so versatile and easy to use with beautiful shades.

Revlon Colorstay Mineral Blush in Petal- I have been using this blush non stop this month.  I have mostly been using it because you can’t really mess up.  When I’m doing my makeup blush is the last thing I put on so it’s either done in a rush or completely forgotten.  This makes it easy to brush all over my cheeks quickly without looking like a clown.  It’s gives me just a bit of light pink glow that goes with every eye look I try.

Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream- I have been using this for about a month now and my skin loves it!  It’s the first thing I put on after I take my makeup off at night.  It moisturizers my skin better than anything than I have ever used and if I forget to use it for a few days I immediately notice it.  I think it runs about ten dollars, but it’s worth every penny.  I just love the creamy formula and it sinks into the skin so quickly I would imagine it would work well under makeup.  It will be a sad day when I finish what I have left, but then I’ll just have to go out and buy another one.

Timex Watch- We all know I have a watch thing.  And if this watch was a pair of jeans it would be the black skinny jeans I wear with everything.  This watch is simple, but that’s what I love about it.   It’s simple enough that I can wear it everyday and the leather strap and silver hardware make it perfect for work.  To be honest, the more I wear it the more I think it’s a men’s watch, which also doesn’t bother me.  This purchase was inspired by lily pebbles.  She always wears a watch similar to this and I thought it would work on me.  It has a bit of masculinity (like I said it may or may not be a men’s watch), but it’s also got a hint of femininity with the font of the numbers, if that makes sense. I also dig that it has the date and glows in the dark, but that’s just an added bonus.

Locket- I recently purchased this locket at H&M and I have been wearing it quite a bit.  I wear it with t-shirts, collared shirts, and eventually sweaters when it gets colder.  When went shopping I had been looking for a long necklace with some type of pendent.  When I say long I mean to a little above my waist.  I’m going to go ahead and guess an 18″ chain.  What really caught my eye was the detail on the locket and then when I realized it was a locket I was sold!

Gap t-shirts- I bought these shirts back around Labor Day.  I was looking for a flowy type of tee that would be just a kind of straight silhouette because whenever I see Vivianna from Vivianna Does Makeup wear one I lose my mind!  Her look is so easy and I wanted something similar.  I found these an couldn’t believe my luck.  They are comfy with a loose, almost drapey quality. I got a gray and black one and I want to get more mostly so I can wear these every day to work.

Book: The Girl Who Played With Fire by stieg larsson- Last summer I read the girl with the dragon tattoo by the same author via recommendation of a friend.  That one is amazing, and the movie is actually a pretty good representation of the book. So this summer I read the second book in the series, (there are three) and I remembered why I loved the first so much.  I guess I would categorize this as a thriller, or maybe a mystery.  Anyway in both the two main characters are trying to solve a murder.  The main characters are Lisbeth Salander an introvert that everyone underestimates and Mikael Blomkvist who is a journalist trying to get the truth.  It is a bit graphic at times so the faint of heart beware.   Otherwise it’s a great series and you should check it out!

Movie: The Fault In Our Stars- ok guys, don’t judge me.  I read the book back in august and you may remember from my august favorites and I loved it!  So naturally I had to watch the movie.  It was exactly what I expected and I loved every second of it. Sometimes you just need a mushy, lovey dovey movie and I got all of that! It’s not for everyone I’m sure, but I enjoyed my Sunday night in watching it.
