Every year a huge fashion event called Phashion Phest is held. For its 18th anniversary the Phashion Phest was held in The Shops at Liberty Place in Philadelphia. The event consisted of beauty demonstrations, booths from local beauty establishments, a cocktail hour with food, student designs, and a runway show.
Different salons demonstrated different hairstyles and make-up techniques all over the central area of the mall. Appetizers were carried around the event from start to finish and from what I could taste there was a variety of choices. There was also a cocktail hour with an open bar for those guests who were of age. Student designs were spotlighted before and after the runway show. Students from Drexel University, The Moore College of Art and Design, and The University of Delaware all showed innovative and well constructed designs. The show had pieces from stores within the shops as well as around Pennsylvania including Macy’s, Nicole Miller, Janice Martin Couture, Kimberly Boutique, and South Moon Under just to name a few. The show was captivating and ran very smoothly. The music kept the energy in the room high and the models added character to the clothes. Though most of the looks in the show were very different, overall the show seemed cohesive and worth go to Philadelphia for.
Guests and photographers crowded the runway as the many models moved around the runway which was actually the two main escalators in the mall and two red carpets. I think this was an interesting idea because it made it easier to see all the models, even from the second floor. I had a exceptional time except for my feet killing from walking the whole event in heels, but I had to do it. Based on all that I saw tonight I will definetly be getting my ticket for the 19th annual Phashion Phest.
