The Oscars are the final show of award season, so it brings out the biggest and brightest stars in the movies from the past year. With the big stars comes big fashion. I was expecting a lot of bright color like there was at the other award shows this year, but it was more neutrals, metallics, and jewel tones on the carpet. Overall everyone was looking gorgeous, but there were a few misses on the carpet.
This dress is not a flattering cut on Shailene and it looks to mature for her age which is 20! She played it too safe with the color as a younger starlet I think she could have played with color more.
This dress just seems too casual for the Oscars because it is such a simple cut and pattern. The pattern is probably the worst part because it makes the beautiful Natalie Portman look doubty. Just not a good look.
Thankfully, there were more amazing gowns than there were misteps at this Academy Awards.
This is the first time I think I have ever loved something that Michelle Williams has worn on the Red Carpet. This dress kept with her quirky and sweet style, but made it sophisticated with the peplum detail at the waist. The dress looked even better with the color like nothing else on the carpet. I don’t like the pink bag with the look, but everything else in the look is a hit.
This look was amazing on Melissa McCarthy, first of all the cut is gorgeous on her body and super flattering. This look is incredibly flowy, but she doesn’t get lost in it. The color is great on her skin tone and there is just enough sparkle.
This look is gorgeous. Rooney Mara did everything right in this look. Instead of doing her usual black dress Rooney wore a white gown with a timeless silhouette and simple detail. She changed up her look while still looking like Rooney Mara.
This gown is really interesting to the eye as expected from an Alexander McQueen dress. The colors are unusual and the extreme detail make this simple silhouette stand out. Her hand only adds to the look and she looks gorgeous.
