I first found out about this reformulation from the blog Nouveau Cheap (such a great blog, make sure you check it out). Here is a link if you want to find out more about this new line. I really liked the old line so I was excited to try this new formulation. 25 shades are in this new range with only 21 in the original. I picked up Berry Rose from the new line and I have Coral Garden and Let’s Get Naked from the original collection.
Let’s Compare: New on the left and old on the right
New- This packaging is a bit more sleek, it reminds me of the Maybelline lipstick with just a translucent plastic cover over the lipstick. They did keep the purple and silver color scheme.
Old- This packaging did seem a bit dated, the purple and silver tube seems bulky now compared to the new packaging.
Application and Formula:
New-It has an easy application and with saturated color. This formula is a bit creamier and a bit lighter.
Old- You get great pigmentation with these and its an easy application. These were creamy and comfortable on the lips.
Feeling and Lasting Power
New- This doesn’t feel like you have anything on your lips. You can just put it on and forget about it. Color sticks around for about the same time as the original and fades just as evenly.
Old- This formula is light on the lips and makes it easy to forget its there. The color fades within about 4 hours without eating or drinking.
Color Selection and Price:
New- The color selection is larger with several new shades and the cost is around 7 dollars depends on where you get them.
Old- There was a smaller selection with this line with diverse shades. This formulation was in a similar price range.
Overall, I don’t think they changed the formula that much, but I do like that is a bit lighter. There isn’t a large enough change for me to buy the same shades I already have in the new formulation, but they didn’t make it worse. I will continue to buy the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks
